This is the time for political consensus and compromise. After the dissolution of Constituent Assembly, there is a big constitutional vacuum. This vacuum is created by UCPN-Maoist. Despite our last efforts to save the Constituent Assembly, UCPN-Maoist intentionally killed the CA at the last minute. From the very beginning, UCPN-Maoist had never shown any interest to draft the constitution through the CA. They always were interested to grab the political power by any means. Finally, they succeeded in their mission to rule the country without any accountability. After the dissolution of the CA, this government has turned into a caretaker government and the caretaker government cannot take major decisions. By violating the basic of constitution, however, the government is trying to rule the country through ordinances. The recent decision of the president to reject ordinances is the right step from a guardian of the constitution. He can stop undemocratic and illegitimate acts.

UCPN-Maoist has been making efforts to impose communist tyranny in the country. This is impossible in the present context as the level of awareness has increased in Nepali people. The recent statement of UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that this government will rule the country for another 25 years reflects  mentality of the Maoist party.  Nepali Congress and CPN-UML has been demanding the resignation of the current caretaker government to form a national consensus government. However, UCPN-Maoist leaders are ignoring our demand. This will create more troubles in the coming days. We have already made it clear that the present political deadlock will end only after the resignation of prime minister Baburam Bhattarai led coalition which has brutally killed Constituent Assembly to prolong their life. It is UCPN-Maoist which is responsible for the present political mess and constitutional vacuum. It is clear that the new election is impossible without amendment of interim constitution and the constitution cannot be amended without national political consensus. This government is not serious for political consensus. In this context, it is merely a wishful thinking to see the new elections any time soon. The longer this government will last, the worse will it be for the country’s overall development. If this government does not resign, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and other opposition parties will launch nationwide agitation against it. I don’t think anybody will support them.

The ruling and opposition political parties have been polarized sharply in the aftermath of the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA).  In the present context context when holding the elections is still uncertain, launching a new alliance is likely to consolidate the power and less likely to pursue any cause for political ideology.  UCPN Maoist announced the new federalist alliance just a week after the decision of ethnic leaders from various political parties to set up a new political party. I don’t think the alliance under the UCPN-Maoist is an alliance of pro-federal forces. This alliance will die after UCPN-Maoist fulfills its own interest to grab the political power. UCPN-Maoist used various political forces as a ladder to grab the power and currently they have been using United Madheshi Front as another ladder to fulfill their own interests. We have already told this to Madheshi leadership who are democratic in nature. If the Madheshi parties are in favor of democracy, they will have to quit the alliance with the Maoists.
