Russian Team On Everest

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Russian team’s first ascent of Mt. Everest, Fedor Konyukhov, a Russian world traveler, together with the Russian team “7 Summits” scaled Mt. Everest recently. They reached the top on May 19, 2012.


They climbed through the Northern Ridge (Tibet) and this is the second ascent to the top for Fedor.


The Russian team first climbed Mt. Everest in May 1992.  Previously, the USSR team did the feat 30 years ago.


According to the Russian Embassy, this season the Russian team became the first European team to ascend Mt. Everest via the northern ridge.


This  group of the "7 Summits" expedition was composed of 7 people, most of whom are very experienced climbers: the leader of the expedition Alexandr Abramov, with 4th ascent of Mt. Everest; medical personnel Sergey Larin, 5th ascent; Ivan Dusharin, 3rd ascent; Fedor Konyukhov, 2nd ascent; Maxim Shakirov, 2nd ascent; Lioudmila Korobeshko, 2nd ascent and Aznor Khadzhiev, 1st ascent.
