To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized a three-day celebration from 6th March to 8th March 2017.

The program included a talk program with students, human rights activists and staging three street plays. Padma Shri awardee Anuradha Koirala   addressed the student at National Law College, Lalitpur. More than a 100 students of law background participated in the talk programs where Koirala discussed about issues of girls’ trafficking, but also elaborated laws pertaining to trafficking.

Another talk program member of Human Rights Commission Mohna Ansari addressed women rights activists at Nepal-Bharat Library. More than 100 persons involved in women's rights activism participated the talk programme. Ansari highlighted the need for more participation from men than women in these celebrations. On the occasion a documentary on Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) was also screened.

According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, three street plays were staged at Patan Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square and Durbar Marg on March 8. The street play titled ‘Sikri’ was staged in collaboration with Women Empowerment Organization headed by Tulasi Poudel. The artists of Sumeru Sarobar Theatre group staged the street play, giving an empowering message on women and children rights.  The play gathered huge crowds at all the places it was staged.
