Bangladesh Embassy celebrates 45th Victory Day of Bangladesh with mesmerizing cultural program

The Mission organized a day-long program to celebrate the Victory Day. The day’s program began with hoisting of the national flag at the Chancery by the Ambassador in the morning.

This was followed by a ‘Doa Mahfil’ where all present prayed for the eternal peace of the souls of martyred freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the glorious War of Liberation in 1971. Prayers were also said for the eternal peace of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose indomitable spirit and selfless sacrifice led to the emergence of an independent Bangladesh, his family members and national leaders who were brutally assassinated in 1975.

The Doa Mahfil was followed by the reading out of the Victory Day messages of President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs. The morning’s program was attended by the Ambassador of Bangladesh, officers and members of the Staff of the Bangladesh Embassy, Bangladesh nationals working in the SAARC Secretariat and members of the Bangladesh community residing in Nepal.

In the evening the Mission organized a cultural program performed by noted Bangladeshi dancer and choreographer Tamanna Rahman and members of the Nrityam School of Dance at the City Hall in Kathmandu to celebrate the day. Former Prime Minister and recipient of “Friends of Bangladesh” Award Shushil Koirala attended the cultural program as the Chief Guest. The program was attended by a number of Ministers of the government of Nepal, Members of the Parliament, leaders of the political parties, high ranking bureaucrats and members of the Armed Forces, members of the civil society, representatives of the business community, media representatives distinguished cultural personalities, Ambassadors, diplomats, Heads of international organizations and members of the Bangladesh community residing in Nepal.

The one-and half hour long program mesmerized the audience with depictions of Manipuri, folk and modern dance set to patriotic songs. A small reception was also organized in the City Hall premises following the cultural program. The Mission was supported by Rahimafrooz Accumulators, Pran Foods Ltd., Rida Incorporated Ltd. and NBS Restaurant, Thamel, Kathmandu.
