British Council Launches Partner Schools Network in Nepal

British Council, Nepal organized an event for its partner GCE A Level Schools on 27 January at the Yak and Yeti Hotel to launch the “Partner Schools Network” which involves various initiatives to support school management, teachers and students such as leadership and teacher training.  The Partner Schools Network offers a new kind of relationship with our partner schools and is exclusively for GCE A Level schools attached to the British Council.

This initiative involves course content support- subject specific face to face and online trainings, Generic teacher training which includes classroom management, subject literacy, collaborative learning, integrating ICT into lessons and critical thinking skills, Self-evaluation for teachers based on three major criteria Knowledge, Skills, Value and Attitudes and follow up and observation

According to a press release issued by British Council, it is a global community for sharing resources, advice on text books, sharing best practices, overcoming challenges and a platform to discuss fresh perspectives across the world which includes countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Cyprus and Nepal. This initiative is for free but some of the services are on cost sharing basis.

Principals and senior management representatives from various GCE A level schools and senior management from British Council were present at the event. Dr. Jovan Ilic, Country Director British Council  Nepal; Mark Elliot, Regional Business Development Manager ; Tim Chadwick, Global Schools Project Manager; Vickrant Gurung,  Exams Branch Manager discussed various aspects British Council activities globally and in Nepal at the event.

Tim Chadwick, Global Schools Exams Project Manager, British Council shared, “It gives us great pleasure to bring the Partner Schools Network program in Nepal. This is a global initiation where we are supporting school management and teachers, exclusively to promote GCE A-Level and to upgrade its standards.”

Jovan Ilic, Country Director, British Council Nepal added, “I am very positive that this partnering will help us improve the scenario of A-Level in Nepal and will facilitate both the school management and students. We are working side by side with Cambridge to enhance A-Levels in Nepal.”

The British Council Nepal offers examinations services that create opportunities for students and professionals to achieve their aspirations to study for UK and other international academic and professional qualifications.
