Is there any possibility to withhold the CA meeting for the time being?

We have spent enough time and given enough room for discussions. Now the process will move ahead and Nepal will have a new constitution by the middle of September. No force can stop the new constitution.

As there is a widespread violent agitation around the southern plains, making the life of people difficult there, how do you visualize the unfolding scenario?

People have already seen the criminal intention of so-called agitators. They killed innocent police officers and even a baby brutally. There is no question to compromise with any criminal elements now. The state will deal with them according to the law.

Do you think the present problem is related to law and order?

Of course, it is a political problem but leaders are taking the criminal path -- killing innocent people, even a two years child, in day light.

As the constitution is said to be a document of consensus, how can you execute the constitution when such a large number of people are against it?

People voted us to write the new constitution, giving two thirds of majority to Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. Now even UCPN-Maoist and Madheshi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik are with us. We have enough strength to promulgate the new constitution.

Do you mean your party is no more in favor negotiations and dialogue with Madheshis and Tharus?

We have been asking them to come to negotiations and dialogues. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has already called them to dialogue. If they don’t come, we cannot wait for them for long.
