A five member French medical  team from EPRUS (French Public Establishment for Preparation and Response to Health Emergencies), which arrived in Kathmandu on April 26^th, left Kathmandu on May 12, 2015.  The medical team was composed of 2 doctors, 2 anesthetic nurses and one nurse for psychiatric patients.  The team came in response to the Great Earthquake on April 25.

Based on local assessment, The EPRUS team decided to concentrate in the eastern part of the Kathmandu valley.  Thus they went to the health posts of Palanchow and Koshi Dekha Kaver, Chautara Hospital, and Dhulikhel Hospital.  At Palanchwok and Koshi Dekha Kaver health posts, the team did about 170 medical consultations, treated infections, cases of diarrhea, bronchitis, trauma etc.  The team treated many small children and pregnant women who were vulnerable and worked in collaboration with the local nurses at those health posts.  EPRUS also handed over several medical supplies/medications to the health posts and Chautara Hospital.

The team also visited Dhulikhel Hospital and donated about 20 kg of materials for ventilation/aspiration, about 20 kg of materials for ventilation/intubation, about 30 kg of essential medicines, about 12 kg of sterilized sheets, kits for burn/wounded etc, and about 15 kg of urinary catheters and gastric tube.  EPRU Shopes that this gesture would be valuable to Dhulikhel Hospital as well as to the local residents who come for treatment.

According to a press release of French Embassy, the French Public Establishment for Preparation and Response to Health Emergencies (EPRUS) was established on March 5, 2007, to respond effectively to various serious health threats, in France and abroad, facilitating the organization and deployment of its health experts in serious health crisis.  Apart from protecting and rescuing the French citizens, EPRUS also comes to aid to the local population as part of a French state aid.
