Photography under a title of Kathmandu Augenblick.

German Ambassador Mathhias Meyer inaugurated the event on 15th May in Taragaon Museum. Co-hosting this exhibition through the Embassy in Kathmandu underlines German government’s longstanding commitment to support in preserving and promoting Nepal’s distinctive culture and art.

With the Embassy of Germany in Kathmandu as a co-host, Hayatt Regency Kathmandu and the Saraf Foundation for Himalayan Tradition and Culture have organized an exhibition “Kath-mandu Augenblick”, which is an exhibition of paintings, objects and pho-tography of German Artist Rolf A. Kluenter.

Kluenter is a German-born, Shanghai-based visual artist, filmmaker and producer.

Born in 1956 in Buervenich in Germany, Kluenter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf. In 1980, he received a scholarship to come to Nepal. Since then, he lived in Nepal for eighteen years as an artist and as a Lecturer of Fine Arts in Tribhuvan University, through which he developed a strong understanding and deep appreciation of Nepalese culture and arts. In 1998, on invitation of the Liu Hai Su Museum in Shanghai, he went to China, since when he has kept working in Shanghai, Kathmandu and Cologne.

 Kluenter’s visual works include paintings on blackened Nepalese handmade paper and objects made of that paper, works on canvas and photography. The exhibition in Kathmandu this time begins on 15th May 2017 and will continue through 15th June 2017.
