India Helps Construction of School

Pitamber Adhikari, Local Development Officer, Udayapur District and  Dhurba Raj Rai, Principal,Narad Adarsh Education Camp and Gyanveer Singh, Second Secretary in the Embassy of India signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for construction of the Campus  building with the total financial assistance of NRs 30.29 million by the Govt. of India under its Small Development Programme Scheme as part of India–Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.

 Narad Adarsh Education Campus started as a secondary school in 1971 and was upgraded as Campus in 2003. Currently, the Campus offers three year Bachelor course in Education Management and Humanities and also 10 + 2 curriculum with total number of 770 students. Since the Campus required its own building for smooth operation, it requested the Government of India for assistance under its SDP Scheme. The new building would provide much needed classrooms and an improved environment for learning for the students and teachers of the campus.

According to the MoU, the District Development Committee would prepare a work schedule, invite tenders for the construction of the project in 15 months and get the project completed in time. The Campus Management Committee, Udayapur and the District Education Officer would monitor the project and regularly submit the progress report to the Embassy of India, Kathmandu which shall release the funds accordingly.

“Hitherto, 05 other projects have been completed and 02 other projects are under implementation with the Government of India’s financial assistance worth NRs 66.10 million. Additionally, the Government of India has, in the past, provided 10 ambulances, recognizing the need of the people of the District. Apart from this the Government of India has also extended financial assistance of approx. NRs 501.53 million towards renovation, restoration, up-gradation of various sites of religious, educational, cultural and historical importance in Nepal in financial year 2015-2016,” said a press release issued by Indian Embassy.
