Indian Provides 35 Vehicles To CIAA

Indian Assistance of NRs.33.12 Million for gifting of 35 vehicles to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

Indian Assistance of NRs.33.12 Million for gifting of 35 vehicles to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

In a function held at Headquarters of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on 16 April 2015, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae gifted 35 different vehicles to the Commission with Indian Assistance of NRs.33.12 million.  35 vehicles consists of 05 -Sedan Cars, 15 - double door pickup Cabs and 15 - four wheel drive SUV Jeeps.

 India’s support to the CIAA to enhance its logistical capacity will provide them greater mobility and contribute to their national objective of curbing corruption.

Underlining the importance of transparency and good governance for Nepal’s overall development, Ambassador of India in his address emphasized that society as a whole would need to join hands to eradicate the menace of corruption which is retarding our progress and prosperity.

India had earlier gifted 846 vehicles worth 943.17 million to Security Agencies and Election Commission of Nepal during the elections held in 2013 in Nepal.  A number of Micro/Mini Buses, Motorbikes, Scooter (ladies), Cars etc were gifted by Govt. of India in the previous years also. Govt. of India is also gifting ambulances and buses on the occasion of its Independence Day and Republic Day since 1994.  Till date Government of India has gifted 462 ambulances and 90 buses to various Government and non-Government organizations of Nepal. 

Under the India – Nepal Economic Program which has an outlay of over NRs. 75 billion, more than 502 large and small development projects have been completed or are currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
