Indian Ambassador Rae Visited Far-West and Mid-West Nepal

Indian ambassador Ranjit Rae returned to Kathmandu after successfully concluding his four days visit to the far western region of Nepal. During the visit, he inaugurated various Small Development Projects in Kailali and Kanchanpur district that have been completed with Indian financial assistance and laid foundation stone for the expansion of the Fateh Bal Eye Hospital in Banke district.

During the visit, he also inaugurated Nepal Bharat Irrigation Project, jointly with the Minister for Irrigation, Deepak Giri and the completed roads of Hulaki Rajmarg, jointly with the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak.

Indian ambassador Rae also attended a reception organized by the citizens of Banke, Nepalgunj in his honor. Next day, he laid foundation stone of upgradation project of Fateh Bal Eye Hospital.

The Government of India has provided financial assistance of NRs 49.58 million for the upgradation of the Hospital.  The eye hospital is managed and run by Nepal Netra JyotiSangh under its umbrella. In his message, during the inauguration ceremony, the Ambassador expressed his firm belief that the hospital will continue to meet the needs of the community and help the deprived section of the society by providing eye care at affordable rates.

“The Government of India in partnership with the Nepal Netra JyotiSangh have been organizing school eye-care camps and also provides annual financial support for performing 15000 cataract surgeries. This project brings a total of six project supported by the Government of India in Banke district alone. Additionally, seven ambulances, one eye care van and two school buses have also been gifted by the Government of India to the district in the past,” said a press release issued by Indian Embassy.

The Ambassador Rae inaugurated a school building for Shree Mahandranagar Higher Secondary School in Bhimdatt in Kanchanpur completed with the Government of India’s grant assistance to the tune of NRs 43.73 million.

The newly constructed school will benefit over 1,000 students enrolled in the school. Thereafter, the Ambassador met the officials of the Pancheshwar Development Authority in Mahendranagar and was briefed about the progress in thePancheswar Dam project.

Ambassador Rae also inaugurated a library and a laboratory building constructed for Bagiswary Higher Secondary School at Parasan, Kanchanpur. The double storied library and science laboratory building has been built with a total financial grant of NRs.12.88 million.In his message, during the inauguration ceremony, the Ambassador said that the library building is not just made of bricks and mortars,it is a house for learning and contemplation.

Ambassador Rae and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak jointly inaugurated HulakiRajmargRoad Project comprising two roads (i) Dhangadhi-Bhajaniya-Satti road & (ii) Lamki-Tikapur-Khakraula road, constructed with Indian grant assistance with NRs 1020 million grant assistance.

These projects have been supported by the Government of India under its multi-sector land multi-dimensional Economic Cooperation Program with Nepal. The Government of India has been providing financial assistance for various large and small development projects in different parts of Nepal, mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development, in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
