Indian Assistance of NRs. 43.57 million for construction of school building in Palpa District

District Development Committee, Palpa and Shree Laxmi Higher Secondary School, Tansen-13 VDC, Palpa and Indian Embassy signed a Memorandum of Understanding for construction of school building for Shree Laxmi Higher Secondary School, Tansen-13 VDC in Palpa District.

According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, the project is being implemented by the District Development Committee, Palpa at a cost of NRs. 43.57 million. Government of India is providing assistance for construction of school building for Shree Laxmi Higher Secondary School, Tansen-3 VDC in Palpa District in Nepal as part of the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.

The School was established in 1959 as a Primary School, subsequently, upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 2008.  The School is situated at Tansen-3 VDC in Palpa District, Eastern Development Region of Nepal. The existing school building is dilapidated and is also insufficient to comfortably accommodate all the students over 1200, about 50% of whom are girls. The new infrastructure will provide much needed classroom space by creating an improved environment for learning and will also contribute to the development of the education facilities in the area.

In addition to this project, 02 projects have already completed in the Palpa District with the Government of India Financial Assistance at a cost of NRs.25.3 Million in Palpa District. Also, there are five more on-going projects with the Government of India’s assistance at a cost of NRs.177.7 million in the District.  One Bus and seven Ambulances have also been gifted to various organisations in Palpa District by Government of India.  Apart from this, over 238 Educational Organisations across Nepal have been assisted by Government of India at a cost of NRs.6337 Million.

Recognizing the importance of accelerating growth in Nepal, India remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. The India – Nepal Economic Programme has an outlay of over NRs.75 billion with more than 500 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
