Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi and External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj left Nepal after attending International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction.

Chinese foreign minister Yi stressed that Chinese government is ready to provide much needed support to Nepal as China has already agreed to provide over 70 billion rupees to Nepal for earthquake reconstruction. "China is a friend of Nepal and we are ready to provide support to Nepal."

During his stay in Nepal, Chinese foreign minister Yi also met president Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and held a meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, and other senior government officials. During his meeting, Chinese foreign minister assured Nepal to provide all necessary support for reconstruction and rehabilitation. 

"China remains as a committed friends and neighbor of Nepal. We provide support to victims of earthquake as much as we can," said Chinese foreign minister during his meeting with Prime Minister Koirala

Along with attending the meeting, Chinese foreign minister also visited the temporary shelters at Tundikhel and met the victims of earthquake. Talking to earthquake victims, Chinese foreign minister assured the victims of earthquake for necessary Chinese support. 

 "During the last 24 hours that I have been in Nepal, I participated in the International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction, and had the pleasure of meeting President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minster Sushil Koirala. I also interacted with several political leaders and other dignitaries during my stay," said Swaraj upon her departure.

"India stands shoulder to shoulder with Nepal, our closest neighbor with whom we have the most ancient ties. Government of India has pledged to provide US$ 1 billion for Nepal’s reconstruction over the next 5 years.  This amount is in addition to ongoing grants and credits amounting to over US$ 1 billion for the next five years.  We expect that these amounts will significantly help the quickest possible recovery and reconstruction efforts of the Government and people of Nepal.  We also hope that early implementation of important projects such as Pancheshwar, Arun III and Upper Karnali Hydropower Projects and Nijgarh Airport and Kathmandu-Nijgarh Fast Track Road Projects will create new avenues for people’s livelihood, enhance Government’s revenue and contribute towards speedy post quake recovery and rehabilitation," said in her statement.
