Under Youth Exchange Program organized by the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports of Indian Government, a 47-member Youth delegation from India visited Nepal of Nepal. The delegation comprised students from leading educational institutes of India including IITs, NITs and IIMs located in the States of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Gujarat etc.
According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, the Indian Youth Delegation arrived in Nepal on 10th March, 2017. During their week-long stay in Nepal, they called on Hon’ble Minister of Youth and Sports and interacted with Youth Council of Nepal, Chamber of Commerce (Youth Wing).
They visited the Pashupatinath Temple, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and also travelled to Lumbini, Chitwan and Pokhara. At Pokhara, the delegation interacted with youth entrepreneurs in a programme organized by Chamber of Commerce, Pokhara. Minister of Youth and Sports hosted the delegation for a farewell dinner wherein the students shared their experiences on their stay in Nepal.
The delegation concluded their visit on 17th March, 2017 and found the Exchange Programme to be a great learning experience and also helped them in acknowledging and appreciating the deep bond of friendship between India and Nepal.
It may be recalled that India and Nepal signed an agreement on youth exchange in November, 2014. Under the agreement, the first youth delegation of Nepal, led by the then Minister of youth and Sports. Purushottam Paudel and comprising 50 students, had visited India in April, 2015.
In April 2017, the second youth delegation of Nepal is expected to visit India.
