Indian ambassador Inaugurated Vocational Training Institute

Minister for Labor and Employment Deepak Bohara and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae jointly inaugurated the newly constructed campus building for Pratiman-Neema Memorial Vocational Training Institute at Sidharthnagar in RupandehiDistrict

According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy,the double storied building, constructed with Indian financial grant of NRs. 44.35 million, consists 18 rooms, library hall, reception, visitor’s room, and separate rest rooms for boys and girls students.

The Pratiman-Neema Memorial Foundation, a non-profit making, non-Governmental organization was established in the memory of late Pratiman Chandra Bohara, a freedom fighter of Nepal. The Foundation has been working for upliftment of backward sections of the society since its establishment. The Vocational Training Institute presently runs courses for lab-technician and lab-assistant in affiliation with CTVET. The new campus building will provide infrastructure to students for learning technical skills, improving their professional qualities and become self-dependent.

Ambassador Rae also inaugurated the   electrification work completed at Bhagwapur VDC in Rupandehi with Indian financial grant of NRs 10.77 million. This project installed 7 transformers in seven villages of Bhagwanpur VDC by laying 11 KV power distribution lines, 400/230 V distribution lines and erection of 331 poles. The completion of electrification work would benefit people residing in this VDC.

Till date, 2 other projects have been completed with the Government of India’s assistance worth 28 million in Rupandehi alone. Moreover, 7 other projects at a cost of NRs 155 million are at different stages of implementation. Additionally, the Government of India has, in the past, gifted 13 ambulances and 4 school buses to social organizations and schools in Rupandehi addressing the needs of the people and in pursuit of its continued commitment to support Government of Nepal in its goal of achieving socio-economic progress.

Apart from this, the Government of India has extended total financial assistance of approx. NRs 501.53 million towards renovation, restoration, upgradation of various sites of religious, educational, cultural and historical importance in Nepal in financial year 2015-2016.

The India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program has an outlay of over NRs 76 billion with more than 529 large and small development projects completed or being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal.  These development projects, mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development, have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
