Indian ambassador inaugurated campus building

Indian ambassador Ranjit Rai inaugurated the newly constructed campus in Chitwan

During his visit to Chitwan District, Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae inaugurated the newly constructed campus building for Madi Campus under Nepal- India Economic Cooperation Program. The function was attended by the representatives of the District Development Committee, Chitwan community leaders and a large number of people from the area.

Established in 1996 with local initiatives, the campus is situated at Baguada-3, Basantpur, Madi in Chitwan District. The new campus building constructed with Indian assistance of NRs. 9.6 million will help in the creation of better facilities for over 500 students, about 55% of whom are girls. This is expected to assist students in the pursuit of their study programme and raise enrolment in the school.

In addition to this campus, two projects have been completed with Indian assistance of NRs. 43.9 million and work is also going on four development projects with Indian assistance of NRs. 125 million in Chitwan District.  India has also provided eleven ambulances, one school bus and a Hydraulic Excavater for use in the district. 

Underlining the importance of strengthening of educational infrastructure for Nepal’s overall development, Ambassador of India, in his address, expressed the hope that the various educational projects being executed or completed under the Nepal – India Economic Cooperation Programme will help the people of Nepal in their quest towards peace and prosperity.

Recognizing the importance of accelerating growth in Nepal, India remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. The India – Nepal Economic Programme has an outlay of over NRs. 65 billion with more than 490 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
