Embassy of Israel and Nepal Film Society is jointly organizing 10th Israeli Film Festival in Kathmandu on June 23 and 24 at Russian Culture Center. According to a press release issued by Embassy of Israel, the film festival is a part of celebration of 68 Independence Day of the State of Israel.
During the festival, six Israeli movies, which won the Israeli Film Academy Awards as well as other highly prestigious International Film Academy Awards as well as other highly prestigious International Film Award, will be screened.
“The festival is an opportunity for the movie lovers to enjoy the Israeli cinema and understand and feel the colorful culture of Israel and Jewish traditions. The organizers are confident that such cultural activities will serve as a bridge to bring peoples of our two countries culturally further closer and strengthen people to people relations.
Addressing a press conference, Israeli film director Dan Wolman said the government needs to support to thrive film industry in the small country like Israel and Nepal. With the support from Israel government, the film industry is now thriving. “I am expert on low budget movies in Israel,” said Wolman.
“A largely immigrant society, Israelis expresses their creative expression through creativity in a broad range of art forms, especially through films,” said Wolman whose two movies foreign Sister and the Distance will be shown.
Keshab Shrestha from Israeli Embassy and Krishna Malla of Nepal Film Society also shared their views at the press conference.
