KOICA country director Dr. Hyungkyoo Kim and Dr. Sushil Nath Pyakuryal, Regional Health Director of Ministry of Health jointly inaugurated Tikapur Hospital
Dr. Hyungkyoo Kim, Country Director of KOICA Nepal Office and Dr Sushil Nath Pyakuryal, Regional Health Director of Ministry of Health jointly inaugurated the Maternity Building and 26 Bedded Hospital Building of Tikapur Hospital which was constructed with the Grant Aid Assistance of the Government of the Republic of Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on March 26, 2017.
“The inauguration ceremony was accompanied by members of the Tikapur hospital committee, ex-chairman of the committee, KOICA officials and local stakeholders. In their remarks, the officials opined that the hospital will deliver quality health services to the general public in Tikapur area,” said a press release issued by KOICA
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the hospital building project was signed between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of Nepal on December 9, 2011 for the total grant aid assistance of USD 5.5 million. Under this project, Maternity building and a hospital building with 26 bed capacity was built in Tikapur Hospital. Now, the Tikapur hospital has been upgraded to the existing 51 bed. Furthermore, KOICA also established 6 health posts in Tikapur area and supported medical equipments as well as organized capacity building program for the medical human resources in Nepal.
KOICA is also supporting the government of Nepal through National Health Insurance Support Program (NHISP) since 2013. Recently, KOICA handed over USD 200,000 worth of medical equipments to 4 Primacy Health Care Centers (PHCCs) in Tikapur area on March 23, 2017.
KOICA has been supporting the Government of Nepal in the area of Health, Education and Agriculture and Capacity building of Human resources since 1991.
