Korea Week 2015 kicked off  hosting Flying Kite Competition 2015 at the ground of Nepal Army Headquarter. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Kripasur Sherpa and Korean ambassador to Nepal Choe, Young Jin jointly inaugurated the week.

Organized of Embassy of Republic of Korea in Nepal , Minister Kripasur also opened the exhibition of Korean Kites. With over

Participated by over 500 Nepalese kite lovers, Laxman Shahai and Maheswor Karmacharya emerged winner and runner up. Korean ambassador to Nepal Choe, Young Jin distributed the Samsung Television set to the winner and Mobile set the runner up.

Similarly, Maheshwor Shrestha and Ankit Maharjan emerged as winner and runner up in the Chungi Competition. Minister of Urban Development Dr. Narayan Khadka distributed the Samsung Television set to winner of Chungi and Sam Sung’s country manager Yubeom Won distributed prize to runner up.

Inaugurating the Flying Kite Competition, Korean Ambassador to Nepal Choe, Yong-Jin narrated how he started kite flying fifty years ago when he was child looking the flying kite talking with it. I felt my dream went up along with the flying kite.

Ambassador Choe expressed hope that the kinds of program help to strengthen the people to people relations existing between people of Korea and Nepal. “While I was walking at the street last October, I saw a lot of kites at shops. It surprised me as well as enjoyed.  I recalled my past. Although Korea and Nepal are geographically far away, I found similar culture of flying kite and playing Chungi post harvest period in both the countries,” said ambassador Choe.

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sherpa also remembered his past days when did not have money to buy the kite to flu. “As a poor boy from remote parts of Nepal, I could not buy kite to fly but I loved it. I still like to fly the kite,” said minister Sherpa.  Minister Sherpa also thanked Embassy of Republic of Korea for organizing Korea week to strengthen the relations between the two countries.” Korea is an all-weather friend of Nepal supporting in difficult time like earthquake or in the development,” said minister. He thanked ambassador Choe for his effort to bring the two countries closer through Kite Completion.  

Large number of Nepalese school children, people of different walks of life, Korean volunteers and Korean citizens living in Nepal presented to see the completion.
