Chinese news agency Xinhua’s Asia Pacific Daily (APD) is opening Nepal edition in Dhangadhi to promote trilateral relations among Nepal-China and India. The media will be launched on Sunday.

According to a press release issued by Manish Shrestha on behalf of Xinhua news agency, Asian Pacific Daily (APD) is a media platform launched by the Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau of Xinhua, China's state-owned news agency. The Nepal edition of APD, a full-color newspaper, has been successfully hitting the newsstands for more than 1 year now with over 6000 circulations. We have already published 17th issue till December.

Far-western development region is full of natural richness and tourism potentialities. It boasts of largest herd of Swamp Deer in Asia at Suklaphanta National Park, majestic beauty of the alpine meadows, forest and lakes along with trails across mountain range.

However, the place has been lagging behind due to the geographical disparity. Despite having immense potentialities, very few investors, entrepreneurs and tourists visit the region, leaving the raw Far-West away from development and prosperity.

In the mean time, a media team lead by Kathmandu Bureau Chief of Xinhua News Agency Zhou Shengping is in Far-west from 12th-15th December to establish a regional bureau of APD in Dhangadi. With its head office in Kathmandu, the bureau will be the first branch of APD since its establishment.

The mission of the bureau is to bring the far-western region closer to Kathmandu and China, to explore news stories and interviews, to help boosting tourism in the region, to invite more Chinese and Asia Pacific region tourists and to strengthen Nepal-China relations. Since Dhangadi falls near the border of India, APD aims to enhance trilateral relations between China, Nepal and India as well.

“We are very pleased to share that APD has also decided to appoint Subash Shahi, dynamic youth entrepreneur who also hails from the west, as the regional Brand Ambassador for the bureau in Far Western development region, amid a signing ceremony,” said a press release.

“We would also like to share that APD is organizing a round table meeting with the local administrative heads, departmental heads of different national governmental organizations, and representatives from security agencies, businesspersons, FNCCI local chapter members, hotel entrepreneurs and local media person on Sunday, December 14,” said press release issued by Manisha Shrestha.
