District Development Committee, Jajarkot and Shree Bheri Gyanodaya Campus  and Indian Embassy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for providing Indian grant assistance of NRs. 45.4 million for the construction of administrative and academic blocks for the campus under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Program. This is the first Small Development Project being undertaken with Indian assistance in Jajarkot District.

Established in 1986, Shree Bheri Gyanodaya Campus is situated at Khalanga VDC -2 in Jajarkot District and is affiliated with Tribhuvan University.  Its existing infrastructure is dilapidated and inadequate to meet the growing requirements of the students as well as faculty members. The new infrastructure will help in the creation of better facilities for over 800 students, about 55% of whom are girls, in the pursuit of their study programs in keeping with their educational needs and towards raising enrolment in this campus. 

According to Indian Embassy press release, the project will be implemented by the District Development Committee, (DDC), Jajarkot in accordance with the existing norms and regulations of the Government of Nepal. They will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of construction of the project and its timely completion. The MoU stipulates the constitution of an Oversight Committee, comprising representatives of the DDC/DEO and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring the implementation of the project in a time bound manner.

Govt. of India has also provided an ambulance in Jajarkot District for providing better health care services to the people of the district.

Recognizing the importance of accelerating growth in Nepal, India remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. The India – Nepal Economic Program has an outlay of over NRs. 65 billion with more than 490 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
