Hectic Day for Indian Prime Modi in Nepal

Nepal and India signed several agreements in presence of Nepalese Prime Minister Koirala and Indian Prime Minister Modi

For the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first day of his arrival is hectic as Nepal and India signed numbers of agreement in presence of Indian Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. Indian prime minister also met political leaders of major political parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist and Madheshi front.

The agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed include MoUs on Nepal Police Academy, Tourism, Traditional Medicines, Youth Affairs; Agreement on USD 1 billion Line of Credit; Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA); Power Development Agreement on Arun-III; and Sister City Agreements between Janakpur and Ayodhya, Kathmandu and Vanarasi, and Lumbini and Bodhgaya.

Earlier in the afternoon, Prime Minister Koirala and Prime Minister Modi had jointly inaugurated the Trauma Centre, built in Indian assistance. After that, both of them went to the Tundikhel where Modi handed over an Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) to Koirala for Nepal Army's use.

Meanwhile, the Indian side handed over a mobile soil-testing van to Nepal in presence of both the prime ministers at a function organized to unveil the plaque of Nepal Police Academy.

Modi had promised to help Nepal in the agricultural sector during his visit in August. Also, the prime ministers jointly flagged off a passenger bus from Kathmandu to New Delhi after the MVA was signed.

In his meeting with political leaders, Indian prime minister Modi urges to promulgate the new constitution with consensus among all the parties.
