KOICA and KAAN organized Talk Program with KOICA and KOICA KAAN Night 2014

Chief secretary Leela Mani Paudyal urged his fellow employees of civil service to use their knowledge and skill learn in Korea for the betterment of life of poor and vulnerable population of Nepal.

Addressing “KOICA –KAAN Night 2014”, chief secretary Paudyal thanked Korean government for continually supporting Nepal including providing training to improve Human Resources Development of Nepal government.

“Nepal government is grateful to Korean government for its generous support to uplift the life of Nepalese people. As a lot of employees have got training in Korea, the time has come for them to implement what you have learnt in Korea.

Paudyal urged civil servants to learn from Korea and follow the work ethic and working culture of Korea. “I appreciate Korea ambassador to Nepal Choe Yong jin for his generous support and personal involvement in Bagmati Clearn Campaign. The year 2014 was important as Nepal and Korea celebrated the year as 40th years for establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The chief guest Paudyal wished to strengthen the ties between Korea and Nepal and further stated that KOICA fellows needs to implement the learned knowledge and share among other Nepalese for the development of Nepal.

In his opening remark Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Nepal Choe Yong jin found this event as one of the most favorable event to celebrate 40th anniversary of diplomatic relation between Korea and Nepal and thanked KAAN members for playing a significant role in each and every crucial part.

Welcoming the guest KAAN president Rajeshwor Gyawali highlighted the role played by KAAN members in various government offices. KAAN executive member Maya Rai highlighted the KAAN’s program for 2015.

In her vote of thanks HaegLan Jo, country representative of KOICA Nepal Office, said KOICA is happy to be part of Nepal’s development process.

 

Established in 2001KAAN is an association to maintain a relation between KOICA and the Nepalese who have participated in KOICA’s short / long term Fellowship Programs.

During to talk program with KOICA Fellows”, Korean experts and KOICA fellows from Master programs and the selected short term courses have actively participated in knowledge sharing on IT Development, Economic Development, Rural Development and Gender Development.

The experts chose his/her interested area and shared the possible ways that can be applied in the given situation in Nepal. The Talk program has been initiated to give an opportunity to KOICA fellows to discuss about their knowledge gained during their stay and study in Korea.

After the “Talk Program with KOICA Fellows”, “KOICA-KAAN Night 2014” held at evening. Organized annually, this program is considered as one of the biggest annual events of KAAN.

According to KOICA’s press release, about 250 participants attended this program. It helped recognize the role of KAAN by sharing their 2014 activities. Fellowship program is one of the effective modalities of KOICA’s capacity building programs. Since 1991, 1302 Nepalese officials have participated in KOICA’s short and long term fellowship programs including 171 officials in 2014.

Its main purpose is to share knowledge and experiences learned in Korea and contribute to the development of Nepal. This year 176 government officials have visited Korea in order to participate in 45 different short/long term fellowship programs. In addition, KOICA has been providing voluntary services in various social and economic sectors in Nepal through KAAN every year, which nurtures a good relationship between KOICA and KOICA fellows.
