Political leaders have resumed dialogues to forge agreement on the continuous issues of the new statute.

In this regards, top-notch leaders of three major political parties held discussion at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Saturday evening. The talks were concentrated on ending deadlock at the Constitution Political and Consensus Committee (CPDCC).

During the meet, political parties stuck to their guns. According to UCPN (Maoist) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML requested to forward their joint proposal to the Constituent Assembly (CA). On the other hand, UCPN (Maoist) said the proposal can be forward to the CA only as an annex.

CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said that no agreement was reached as UCPN (Maoist) stood on its stance to settle disputed issues through agreement.

UML and UCPN (Maoist) are holding talks before the CPDCC meet scheduled for Sunday. Earlier, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala held talks at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar.
