Nembang had called the meeting to discuss the issues of constitution-drafting as the Janaury 22 deadline that the parties fixed for them to promulgate the new constitution are on the horizon.

It has been learnt that CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli could not make it to the BAC meeting for he was out of the Capital, while UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was busy meeting the leaders of his party this afternoon.

With only 23 days remaining to deliver the constitution, the major parties—Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist— are still at loggerheads on the several crucial issues including federalism, forms of governance, electoral system and judiciary besides the process of promulgation of the new statute reports THT online.

The opposition parties, led by the Maoists, have been arguing that the constitution should be delivered by forging consensus, while the NC and the CPN-UML have been stressing the essence of sticking to due process, that is to say through voting process, in the Constituent Assembly if consensus was elusive.
