Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Chandra Nembang said he will forward CA activities as per the CA Rules after parties failed to evolve consensus.

Responding to a delegation of the Reporters’ Club in the Capital today, he said constitution will be promulgated soon, though not on January 22, if the constitution writing body can move ahead uninterruptedly reports THT online.

“If parties can forge a consensus, it is still possible to promulgate the statute by January 22,” the CA Chair said, “For that, they need to agree on suspending some provisions of CA Rules.”

Otherwise, constitution by January 22 is but a wish, he clarified.

Meanwhile, Nembang also expressed his dissatisfaction over major parties’ failure to forge an agreement on key constitutional issues.

The parties’ failure to promulgate the constitution will morally decrease their image in society, he warned.
