Former King Gyanendra Asked Parties To Respect Past Agreement

Former King Gyanendra urged political parties to respect the agreement signed with him in 2006. Although former King did not mentioned specifically about the agreement, he hinted that parties abolish monarchy violating the agreement with him.

According to Annapurna Post Daily, then prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala assured the King that monarchy would not removed in case of King restored then dissolved House.

However, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has made it clear that his party has not made any deal with former king.

At a program here Thursday, the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman said that ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) should instead respond to former King Shah´s statement. In a message on the occasion of the Democracy Day, the former King had asked the political parties for implementation of the past pacts agreed with him.

On the occasion, leader Dahal accused the NC and UML of disobeying the popular mandate on the basis of electoral mandate and trying to move ahead in a totalitarian fashion reports RSS.
