As the ruling parties turn assertive against the opposition alliance and are determined not to waste further time in the name of settling disputes in consensus, the Constituent Assembly (CA) has assumed a decisive course.

Convening a meeting of the CA full House in absence of lawmakers from major opposition UCPN (Maoist), Madhes-based parties and some other fringe parties, CA Chairman Subas Nembang, too, has hinted at steering the task of constitution making in a bold and decisive manner reports Republica online.

The CA meeting was held on Tuesday though the opposition parties requested deferring the meeting as they had enforced a general strike in the central region and Tarai districts.

Multiple sources informed that Nembang with his close team at the secretariat is preparing to form a committee to prepare a questionnaire of disputes in objective format so that the disputed points can be tabled for voting in the CA full House.

Various leaders from NC and UML, who were interacting with Nembang at his chamber in Singha Durbar, indicated that the CA will form a committee to prepare a questionnaire.

UML lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari said that unlike in the past the CA´s course will be more clear and straight and decisive in the days to come. In the past, lawmakers from the ruling and the opposition parties kept on disputing over whether or not to send the disputes back to the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) of the Constituent Assembly (CA) despite its repeated failure to resolve them in consensus.

"Now, this will not be repeated. Once, the questionnaire committee prepares the list of questions, the CA full House will endorse it and disputes will be tabled for decision," Adhikari told Republica. "Any proposal securing majority will be passed and sent to the drafting committee."
