Cold waves, rain and snowfall have affected the life in Nepal. The mountainous areas have been witnessing snowfall. Similarly, lives in Kathmandu along with other hilly regions have been affected from the rainfall and cold wave affected life in Terai.

According to RSS, two persons have died of cold wave in Lahan in the district. With the cold wave increasing here since the past week, general life has been badly affected. As a result, the patients of cold, pneumonia, fever and respiratory problems have thronged the hospitals.

A foot of snow has been piled at the Chaurikharka, Namche, Khumjung, among other VDCs of Khumbu region, locals said.

“The snowfall began from last night. People are unable to come out of their houses. The snowfall has piled up to one foot and is still continuing,” a local LP Sharma said on telephone. “The number of visitors is declining due to the snowfall and increasing cold.” The region is a popular tourist destination.

After few days of rainy cloudy day, the weather of Kathmandu and Nepal will likely to improve Monday. Most parts of the Nepal received rainfall on Sunday. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has recorded rainfall at all of its stations across the nation except Biratnagar and Dadeldhura.  The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Jumla (22.1 mm) followed by Pokhara (19.8 mm) and Bhairahawa (16.6 mm) in last 24 hours as of 5:45 pm this evening.

Kathmandu received 12.3 mm rainfall during the period. Mercury still above freezing point. According to the Division, minimum temperature at all of its stations were above the freezing point (0 degree Celsius) in last 24 hours.  Jumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature (0.2 degree Celsius).  Kathmandu's minimum temperature is recorded at 9.2 degree Celsius. -

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather will likely to remain same on Monday. There will be still generally cloudy in the western region and partly cloudy in the eastern and central regions. Light rain likely to occur at some places of the western region. The Division also forecasted chances of light snowfall at a few places of the western high mountainous region.
