Nepali student receives British Council IELTS Award worth NPR 500,000

Swastika Shrestha received award of NPR 5,00,000 towards the cost of her tuition fees. Shrestha is studying in Germany.

Swastika Shrestha received award of NPR 5,00,000 towards the cost of her tuition fees. The award winner for 2016 Shrestha is studying in Germany. “I take this opportunity to thank the British Council Nepal for organizing this event. Not only British Council has been conducting IELTS examination but also has providing opportunities like this which has been helping a lot of Nepalese students reduce their financial burden. This has helped many students pursue their higher education abroad. I am extremely glad that I am the recipient this year and I hope there are many more in the years to come,” said Swastika after learning she had won the award.

The British Council as a part of its educational opportunities announces the winner of the British Council IELTS Awards for 2016. The British Council IELTS Award was launched in February 2015 with the objective of supporting Nepalese students intending to study in an English-speaking country.

Dr Bal Krishna Shrestha, father of Swastika Shrestha received the award on her behalf and shared, “It is with immense pleasure I accept this award on behalf of my daughter and my family. I thank British Council Nepal for encouraging young generations with award like this to fulfill their dreams of studying in competent universities abroad.”

The British Council IELTS Awards aim is to help Nepalese students pursue the opportunity of a higher education abroad, once they have taken the initial step of proving their English language ability with IELTS. This award will help Nepalese candidate boost their long term career chances in a global market. Most importantly, it is a commitment to realizing British Council’s aspiration of enabling young people to achieve their life goals.
