Even in a year after the big earthquake of April 25, 2015, the reconstruction process has been slow in helping a large number of people living in temporary shelters. Given the present state of reconstruction, it is almost certain that these people will have to wait for a long time before they move to their permanent homes. The first three months of the National Reconstruction Authority, the all-powerful body to carry out reconstruction, have hardly been a matter of satisfaction in view of the scale of devastation the quake caused: it left a third of Nepal in ruins, killed some 9,000 people, injured 23,000 more, and fully or partially destroyed over 600,000 houses, Forget about the main opposition party, even prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli and Chief Executive Officer of the NRA have publicly expressed their dissatisfaction over the performance of the NRA. Along with the multilateral agencies like The World Bank and Asian Development Bank, Nepal’s  development partners, particularly India, China, United Kingdom, USA, Japan, European Union, Germany, and various agencies of the United Nations and the EU are showing their goodwill and offering resources to support Nepal's reconstruction. INGOs and NGOs have been working side by side with the government agencies in the earthquake affected areas. One year of efforts after the earthquake is our cover story. We have analyzed different perspectives including the field work of JICA in projects it has supported and Karuna Foundation Nepal’s assistance to the families of children with disabilities.
