Republic of Korea Welcomes and supports the UN Security Council. According to a press release issued by the Republic of Korea,the Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes and supports the UN Security Council’s unanimous adoption today of the resolution with the strongest-ever sanctions against North Korea.

This historic Security Council resolution adopted today is the manifestation of the international community’s firm resolve that North Korea’s repeated nuclear tests and long-range missile launches will no longer be tolerated, and that North Korea should be made to completely rethink and change its flawed calculus by paying a high price for its provocations against the international community in violation of Security Council resolutions.

 The Government of the Republic of Korea will make every effort necessary for the smooth and thorough implementation of the resolution, including in cooperation with all of the UN member states, and will further strengthen international cooperation to have North Korea abandon its nuclear program in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.

The Government of the Republic of Korea sternly warns North Korea that it must meet the international community’s demands expressed in the UN Security Council resolution and take the steps toward denuclearization, and should North Korea undertake yet another extreme provocation while continuing to completely disregard the livelihoods of its people, it will face more severe consequences.
