U.S. Admiral Locklear left Nepal

U.S. PACOM Commander Admiral Locklear left Nepal after completing his four day visit

Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III, United States Navy Commander of U.S. Pacific Command based in Honolulu, Hawaii, arrived in Kathmandu today for a four day visit. The visit by 4-Star Admiral Locklear is at the invitation of Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav SJB Rana, who visited the United States in April of this year. The visit is aimed at enhancing U.S.-Nepal relations. As part of the U.S. government’s rebalance to Asia, the U.S. military has been working with the Nepalese Army to enhance peacekeeping operations and disaster response capabilities. During his visit, Admiral Locklear will meet with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, Chief of the Army Staff, General Gaurav SJB Rana, and others. Admiral Locklear will also speak to Nepal Army officers attending the recently inaugurated Higher Command and Management Course in Nagarkot, meet with the Mahabir Rangers, and visit the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre.
