Bandha Crippled Normal Life in Nepal

The nation-wide bandh jointly enforced by 30-party alliance led by UCPN-Maoist, Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist and Padma Ratna Tuladhar-led Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has affected daily activities in the country on Tuesday.

The nation-wide bandh jointly enforced by 30-party alliance led by UCPN-Maoist, Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist and Padma Ratna Tuladhar-led Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has affected daily activities in the country on Tuesday.

Normal life across the nation including the Capital has been paralysed following the bandh.The bandh was called demanding the new constitution be promulgated on time and through consensus.

The demonstrators have already vandalized dozens of taxis and buses. From the early in the morning, the demonstrators gathered at different parts of capital to resort the bandh reports THT online.

Following last night battle, the concentration of the demonstrators is now in and around Constituent Assembly building where CA chair has summoned next meeting today at 1.

They were seen carrying party’s flags and chanting slogans against the ruling parties.

Educational institutions‚ shops‚ and industries remained closed due to the bandh. No vehicles for long and short distances were found plying on the roads. Night buses‚ and other vehicles entering Kathmandu valley have also been stranded at the highways.

However‚ vehicles of police‚ press‚ human rights, tourists and ambulances were allowed to operate freely.

Due to the bandh, office goers as well as general commuters faced difficulty reaching their destinations.

It has been learnt that UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya along with senior leaders of both the parties will take to the streets to make the strike successful today.

In some places, anti bandh group opposed the bandha. However, no body takes a risk.
