Nepal won the match against Papua New Guinea by seven wickets with 10 balls in hand. This is its third win from fourth match in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers at the Sharjah Cricket Academy, Dubai.

Chasing the respectable target of 141 runs, number five batsmen Binod Bhandari, contributed unbeaten 51 runs for Nepal that required 79 runs from last nine overs. Bhandari quick-fired six sixes and a four in his knock of 23 balls as Nepal achieved the target in 18.2 overs.

Opener Subash Khakurel contributed 38 in his patient innings of 37 balls and other opener Sagar Pun contributed 10 off 17 and Gyanendra Malla 10 off 14.

Earlier electing to bat first, Papua New Guinea lost wickets in regular interval. But fourth order batsman Geraint Jones played a patient knock of 55 runs to achieve competitive total of 140/6. Jones who came in 7.1 over hammered four sixes facing 53 deliveries before he was caught by skipper Paras Khadka off Jeetendra Mukhiya in the first ball of 17th over.

Mahuru Dai was the second highest scorer for second highest scorer for Papua New Guinea scoring unbeaten 36 runs off 22. He smashed two fours and sixes each. Opener Tony Ura who quick-fired 22 run facing 14 deliveries was the only other batsmen to achieve double figure. He struck a six and three boundaries.

Skipper Paras Khadka was the peak of Nepali bowling claiming three wickets followed by two wicket haul of Amrit Bhattarai. Jeetendra Mukhiya also claimed one. Khadka gave away 22 runs in his four over spell while Bhattarai conceded 27 runs in his four over bowling. Mukhiya gave away highest 30 runs and Shakti Gauchan gave 24 runs with both bowling for four over each. Basanta Regmi gave away 26 runs bowling for three overs and Sagar Pun conceded nine runs in one over.

Nepal has defeated Denmark and Kenya in its first two matches and gone down against Scotland in the third match. Nepal will take on leader Netherlands on Wednesday in its fifth fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Academy.
