India grants assistance for construction of school in Nepal

During his visit to Bara District, Ambassador of India, Jayant Prasad inaugurated the newly constructed school building for Shree Nepal Rashtriya Higher Secondary School under Nepal- India Economic Cooperation Programme. The function was attended by the local political leaders, senior administrative officials, general public and media.

 

According to press release of Indian Embassy, established in 1951 as a Lower Secondary School and subsequently upgraded as Higher Secondary level in 2007, Shree Nepal Rashtriya Higher Secondary School, situated at Piparapati Pachrauta VDC -8,  is one of the oldest Government-recognised schools in Bara District. The school provides educational facilities to about 1300 students, about half of them are girls. The new school building, built with Indian assistance of NRs. 24.80 million, will provide improved learning environment to the student community and significantly contribute towards the further development of education in the District.

 

In addition to this project, the school building for Shree Kankali Secondary School has been built with Indian assistance of NRs. 4.5 million and the work for the construction of a bridge over Bangari River is going on at a cost of NRs. 31.79 million. India has also provided nine ambulances and three school buses in the district. 

 

India is also constructing two roads totaling 65.9 km i.e. MRM (Tamagarhi) – Simraungarh and MRM (Manmat) – Kalaiya-Matiyarwa Road in Bara District under Phase-I of the ongoing Terai Roads Project in Nepal. The Project envisages the construction of 19 links/postal roads covering a total length of 605 km in the Terai Districts with Indian financial assistance totaling approximately NRs. 11 billion. 

 

In his address, Ambassador of India underlined the importance of the Nepal–India Economic Cooperation Programme as a cornerstone of the development partnership between the two countries. He expressed the hope that the various projects being implemented under the programme will help the people of Nepal in their strides towards peace and prosperity.

 

Recognizing the importance of accelerating growth in Nepal, India remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. The India – Nepal Economic Programme has an outlay of over NRs. 65 billion with more than 450 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
