Indian investors have applied to generate electricity from five big hydropower projects with over 100 MW capacity. This year 10 applications have been received for generation of electricity by building mega projects (with capacity of over 100 MW). Of them, five were from Indian companies. The applicant Indian companies include Lanco Infratech Haryana and KVR Infrainitiative Hyderabad, amongothers. They have applied to build Arun 4, Arun 5, Mangri Gamgadhi, Madhya Arun and Karnali Jukot projects. However, the announcement by the Maoists to obstruct Indian-run projects could hit the actual investment in the sector.
