Industrialists have complained that vehicles having Indian number plates are asked for extra illegal money in the highways from various companies.


Although the government has made a decision to remove all road taxes, people in Biratnagar are still asking for money in road taxes.


Municipality, people’s society, truck businessmen union, district development committee, and police are taking the money, complain industrialists. “In many places vehicles are not allowed to go forward by the police without paying money depending on the things they carry,” said industrialist Pradeep Murarka. “Yesterday only, I had to pay NRP 3,000 to travel from Biratnagar to Siraha.”


Although there have been assurances that all road blocks have been removed, people are forcefully collecting money and are protected by police.
