Remittance Improved Lifestyle

During the past 15 years, the remittance received from Non-Resident-Nepalis (NRN) has increased by 15 times per person. Nepali lifestyle survey's preliminary report has found out that along with the increment in remittance, Nepalese life style and consumption level have also improved.


Before 15 years, one Nepali used to receive NRs 625 remittance per year. Now, it has gone up to NRS 9,245 per person. According to Nepali lifestyle survey third, based on luxuries at home, health, banking, per capita income, education, facilitates provided by the government- the overall lifestyle of Nepali has improved


According to the survey, the role played by remittance for the improvement in lifestyle is very important whereas agriculture based people and agriculture based income have decreased. In this period, Nepalese income has more than doubled.


Remittance from India has gone down from 33% to 13%. 78% of remittance is spent in daily consumption goods. (Karobar)
