As usual, there was pleasure as well as jubilation when the name of Miss Nepal 2012 was announced by the jury.  Shristi emerged the winner. She will now travel, among other things, as an ambassador for nature conservation. She will also have a chance to participate in the Miss World contest in Mongolia.


The question now is: will Shristi impress the international audiences? If she does, she will do Nepal proud in the international arena.


“Winning the Miss Nepal crown is in my list of things to do in life,” Shristi said at an interview way before the finale of the 17th edition of Miss Nepal.


At Hotel De’l Annapurna, on May 6, her dream actually came true.


“My confidence was the main reason for my winning,” she said to media persons.


A nursing student at London and a model having experiences at the international modeling arena, Shristi raised hopes among people of Nepal for her Miss World Pageant of the year.


Likewise, Subeksha Khadka and Nagma Shrestha were crowned Miss Nepal International and Miss Nepal Earth respectively.


Both Subeksha and Nagma have been working in Television channels and hence were already popular names—Subeksha works with News 24 and Nagma with Image channel.


Although a few controversies surrounded Miss Nepal this time as well, but nobody had doubts on the potential of Shristi, whose beauty and confidence stood her in better stead against her competitors.


But now these winners need to understand the real task of being selected as winners and should work for the welfare and empowerment of the women of the whole nation and not just limit themselves to personal gains.
