CPN-UML leader Jhalanath Khanal holds the view that the SLMM and the Maoist combine is responsible for the untimely demise of the Constituent Assembly.

It is unfortunate that the SLMM and the Maoists finally buried the CA. Had they come with some sort of flexibility, the country would not have to see the present political and constitutional vacuum. They betrayed the people and people’s faith. This is the reason we have been demanding the resignation of prime minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai. He has no right to continue as the prime minister.

It is completely a false propaganda we did not respond to them. Till the last minute, we even called them to bring a brief constitution of less than a page. However, our request was turned down by them. Morally and ethically, this government has no right to continue in power.

Truth cannot be hid for long. People will sooner or later know what the reality was behind the demise of the CA. The way Maoist leaders presented themselves at the last minute showed that they had a well prepared plan to kill the CA. On May 27 we even agreed to single identity based 14 provinces proposal of Maoists and SLMM. Our request was turned down. People will see SLMM and Maoists as great conspirators against the wishes of the people.
