Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation in association with Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation organized the 4th Edition of Poemandu recently at Nepal Bharat Library.
The 4th Edition of Poemandu, a B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation’s initiative of promoting the Nepal-Bharat Library as a poetic hub in the capital and providing a platform to promising and amateur poets of Nepal, commemorated the Birth Centenary of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Shrestha on its fourth edition. Veteran poet and president of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation, Mr. Shyam Das Baishnav started the event with his recitation of a poem written on Siddhicharan Shrestha.
Apart from remembering the epoch-making poet Siddhicharan Shrestha, the highlight of the programme also included the release of the book “Siddhicharan Ki Kavya Sadhana”, which was released jointly by the Indian Ambassador Jayant Prasad, Chancellor of Nepal Academy Bairagi Kaila, eminent poet and lyricist Druga Lal Shrestha, vice president of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation Prof Dr. Mohan P.Lohani and Mr. Shyam Das Baishnav. Author Prof. Dr. Usha Thakur highlighted about the book, which was commented upon by Prof. Dr. Mohan P. Lohani.
During this occasion, Veteran poet and Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bairagi Kainla shared his connections with Siddhcharan Shrestha by reciting a poem on him. Former Minister C. P. Mainali also spoke about Siddhicharan Shrestha. He said that he was inspired by Siddhicharan’s poetry which encouraged him to take part in the freedom movement.
Indian Ambassador Jayant Prasad spoke about the Siddhicharan’s contribution for societal changes through his poetry. Ambassador Prasad also recited one of the popular poems written by Siddhicharan Shrestha – “Eutai Hawa, Eutai Paani”.
Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Abhay Kumar thanked Yugkavi Siddhicharan Foundation for collaborating with Poemandu series, organized by B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation every month and recited a poem titled “Proper Peace” in memory Siddhicharan Shrestha.
The event later was followed by the recitation of poem on Siddhicharan Shrestha. The poets who recited at the function included Durga Lal Shrestha, Anand Dev Bhatta, Ratna Birahee Ghimire, Gagri Sharma, Devi Nepal, Yuyutsu RD Sharma, Rajendra Thapa and Tejashwor Babu Gango.
