The U.S. Embassy Youth Council organized a bicycle rally in Kathmandu, which took cyclists on a 16-kilometer journey from Lazimpat to Patan. Through a morning of cycling, the rally shed light on environmental issues and the need for bicycle-friendly conditions in Kathmandu.
About 60 participants showed up eager to cycle, including, the U.S. Embassy Youth Council, members of the U.S. Mission, and the NGO YUWA. The rally was organized to spotlight Kathmandu Cycle City 2020, a non-profit youth network dedicated to improving the environment and promoting healthy lifestyles through cycling.
Upon completion of the rally, cyclists gathered to hear congratulatory remarks from the U.S. Mission’s Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Mike Goldman. He spoke alongside Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Shrestha.
