Following the completion of his official visit China, Nepal Army's Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Gaurav Shumsher Rana returned home. Chief of General Staff Lt. General Netra Bahadur Thapa received General Rana at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) this afternoon.
A troop of Nepal Army paid guard of honours to the army chief at the TIA. On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai and highly-placed officials at Ministry of Defence were also present.
During his official visit to China, CoAS Rana met his Chinese counterpart General Fang Fenghui, Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission, Air Chief Marshal Xu Qiliang among others top military officials.Likewise, CoAS Rana observed Shaansi-based First Hospital affiliated to Fourth Military Medical University and Nanjing-based Nanjing Army Command College.
During the visit, Rana also signed a protocol of Chinese grant on two mobile hospitals to NA.“China has assured of RMB 50 million assistance to Nepal Army in near future,” said Nepal Army in a press statement. The visit has assisted to strengthen and intensify the century-long bilateral relationship between the two neighbours, NA added. On invitation of his counterpart General Fang Fenghu, CoAS Rana had left on a weeklong visit to the northern neighbour on July 18.
