U.S. Embassy partners with APF supported project to ensure safe drinking water during disasters

Armed Police Force and the US Embassy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between to construct deep tube wells near designated open spaces in the Kathmandu valley.  These wells will allow the Armed Police Force to better serve the citizens of Nepal in the event of a disaster by providing safe and reliable drinking water to displaced people.

The deep tube wells will be built using Nepali contractors and construction companies.  The cost of one tube well is about $175,000.  There are plans to build a total of six to seven deep tube wells, with construction scheduled to begin in November.
