Embassy of India in Kathmandu and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized the 7th edition of POEMANDU on the occasion of 105th Birth Anniversary of National Poet of India Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ and to commemorate the Hindi Fortnight.

Eminent litterateurs and academicians such as Dr. Ram Dayal Rakesh, Dr. Bhuwan Dhungana and Dr. Mohan Prasad Lohani and other prominent scholars and poets spoke on the life and works of Dinkar. They highlighted his contributions in Hindi literature.

Dr. Bhuwan Dhungana compared the works of Dinkar to the works of Nepalese poets Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Gopal Mainali and Siddhicharan Shrestha. Poet and Diplomat Abhay K said that Dinkar’s poetry has been a great inspiration to him. He recited a few excerpts from Dinkar’s ‘Rashmi Rathi’.

According to a press release of Indian Embassy, other poets reciting at the event were Dr. Sanjita Verma, Gopal Ashk, Laxmi Karna, Uday Khanal ‘Umesh’, Priyanka Pandey, Rajeshwor Nepali, Kanchana Jha and Dr. Mridula Sharma. Poemandu is one of the popular events organized by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation every month at Nepal Bharat Library. This is in addition to its other popular monthly events such as Cinemandu, Conversations and Voices.
