Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized the 8th edition of Poemandu, a B.P. Koirala India Nepal Foundation initiative on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Nepal Bharat Library in New Road.
Highlighting about the importance of Poemandu, Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation poet-diplomat Abhay Kumar shared, “Poetry is one of the most integral parts of any Literature which echoes the inner chores of thoughts and projects them strongly. And, Nepal is filled with prominent and promising poets. Therefore to promote such poets and to create a suitable platform for them we have been organizing Poemandu every month since last eight months.” He added,
“We also have been commemorating Birth Anniversaries of eminent poets of Nepal and India such as Siddhicharan Shrestha, Bhanubhakta Acharya, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Tulasi Das.”Professor Dr. Ram Dayal Rakesh chaired the recitation session and congratulated the organizers for giving continuation to the literary meetings, discussions and recitations.
Prominent poets such as Ram Prasad Pahari, Dr. Kashi Raj Pandey, Lai Kumar Das, Arkhana Khatoon, Uday Chandra Das, Prakash Mani Dahal, Ranjana Poudel, Sumi Lohani, Tejendra Subba, Pramod Snehi, Jaya Changchha, Richa, Swaroop Acharya and Shyam Bahadur Bhawuk recited their poems at the event in varied languages such as Nepali, Hindi and English.
According to a press release of Indian Embassy, Poemandu is one of the popular events organized by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation every month at Nepal Bharat Library. This is in addition to its other popular monthly events such as Cinemandu, Conversations and Voices.
