Mrs. Martine Bassereau, the new French Ambassador, presented her credentials to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Nov 7, 2013.  She replaced Ambassador Jean Charles Demarquis who left on August 2013.

Born on November 13,1950Martine BASSEREAU- Specialized Graduate Studies (International Law). Graduate of Political Sciences Institute – Paris,  she is Policy Officer outside class - first class and appointed French Ambassador to Nepal in October 2013.

She worked at headquarters, project manager (Continental Europe) since September 2011 and served advisor of Cooperation and Cultural Action in Helsinki, 2008 – 2011. Similarly, ambassador Bassereau also served as advisor of Cooperation and Cultural Action in Nicosia, 2004 – 2008. Having serving different positions, she delegated the functions of Deputy Director (Conventions), 1999 – 2004, special assistant to the Head of Service (Reciprocal Agreements), 1996-1999, at headquarters, editor (French abroad and foreigners in France), 1990-1996 and she also worked to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 1976-1990.
