Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized the seventh edition of Cinemandu, a BPKF Initiative at Nepal Bharat Library in Nepal Airlines Building on 09 November, 2013.

The eighth edition of Cinemandu screened acclaimed Nepali feature film Maun: a Loud Silence, which is directed by Suraj Bhusal and stars Arpan Thapa and Namrata Shrestha. After the screening of the movie, the audience interacted with the director of the movie Suraj Bhusal and actors Arpan Shrestha and Namrata Shrestha.

The interaction shed light on the new wave of cinema making, the challenges the makers have to come through, the story behind the making of Maun, the differences between fiction and reality in the cinema, cinema as a business in Nepal and the critical perception of the movie, the new experiments in story-telling and more.

“This was my first attempt in filmmaking. I understand that there are some loopholes and will make sure that I will avoid such errors in my future ventures,” shared director of Maun Surah Bhusal who also unveiled that his upcoming movie will once again bring together Namrata Shrestha and Arpan Thapa doing the lead roles together.

Head of Press, Information and Culture of Embassy of India Abhay Kumar congratulated the makers and the actors for making a promising movie like Maun.
