Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) 2013 opened with the world premiere of Sahara Sharma’s ‘Indreni Khojdai Jada’ (Chasing Rainbows). The independent feature film portrays the trials and tribulations of three siblings, urban migrants in Kathmandu, in pursuit of their dreams. Films by a slew of young Nepali directors will feature as special attractions at the 11th edition of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), from 11 - 15 December 2013.

On the first day of KIMFF, WWF Nepal announced the winners of the short film competition "We Are all Connected" on the occasion of International Mountain Day. The competition gave students and independent filmmakers the space to articulate their relationship with the environment and the natural world. Surendra Prajapati won first prize for "Now", Team Aayush won second prize for "Urja" and Nimesh Shrestha won 3^rd prize for "Choice". 

A special selection of films highlighting various aspects of poverty and development were screened including "Solar Mamas", "Poop on Poverty", "Colours in the Dust", "Town and Country". KIMFF 2013 features 47 films from 20 countries, interactive discussions, and exhibitions. US Climber and mountaineer David Breashears opened the festival.
